New work in my portfolio
The week before easter we got our final exam at school. The task was to design a new identity for Oslo Reptilpark (Oslo Reptile Park). It would have to include a logo, a color palette and 3 objects (like t-shirt, shopping bag etc) designed with the new identity.
Although stressful and at times frustrating I did learn a lot. Working with short deadlines is really fun and can actually give a better result than working on a project over 3 months - it’s all about getting that idea fast.
I’m quite happy, actually i’m very happy with the result. It took me about two and a half day to actually get the idea - and another day to actually go from an idea on a little piece of paper to a vector logo in Illustrator. And on Thursday (1 day left) the power went down in our classroom, and I hadn’t saved in since morning. Luckily I had taken a lot of screenshots while working so I got pretty lucky there - another lesson learned! Save - all the time!

The logo
The logo is symbolizing the tail of a chameleon, which is a well known reptile and can appeal to children as well - which was the main target audience. The colors have been through hours of back and forth. I started with green, which is the obvious reptile color, and used in the company old logo as well, but I thought it was too standard and wanted to try something different that would stand out from the others reptile parks here in Norway. I had purple, light red and blue but it was first when i tried the dark red with a twist of brown and a pale red that is a great contrast to each other. The font used in the logo is Trade Gothic, Bold Condensed (No. 20).
T-shirt
Here’s the t-shirt. On the front of the t-shirt you can see a chameleon on a stick with his long tail going all the way to the rear side of the t-shirt, where it ends as the logo.

Godt jobbet!

Thanks for the kind words Karina :-) I’ll try to keep the comments (at least from my part) in English. Good to hear that you have a good experience with Nilz. Maybe I’ll send in the chameleon illustration.
Mats is gonna contact the owner of the reptile park, perhaps they’ll want my logo? :-)
